THE ADVENTURE

Journey with us to Churchill, Canada, for an opportunity to get up close and personal with Polar Bears.

Churchill, Manitoba, is renowned as the "Polar Bear Capital of the World," and it is here that you'll have the chance to witness one of nature's most spectacular events.

Over a thousand of these massive bears pass through Churchill every season.

The bears gather around the town of Churchill, patiently awaiting the freezing of the Churchill River, which flows into the Hudson Bay.

Once the ice forms, they embark on their annual hunt on the sea ice - seeking out the various seal species that inhabit the Canadian waters.

Our expedition is scheduled right before the ice freezes… provides you the best chances of encountering bears on the Tundra's expansive wilderness.

We explore the Tundra in a private SUV, allowing us to venture off the beaten path, to get you close to the bears and other wildlife at eye level.

We are accompanied by a licensed bear guide, to ensure your safety during these ground level encounters.

Our main focus will be to find and photograph these iconic bears. However, we won't miss the opportunity to find you as much wildlife as possible.

The tundra is also home to grey wolves, Arctic foxes, red foxes, arctic hares, caribou, snowy owls, and the ever elusive moose.

TRIP ITINERARY

Day 1
ARRIVAL DAY
You arrive in Churchill. (Early Morning flight) We will pick you up from the Churchill Airport (YYQ), and take you to your B&B Lodgings. After we check in, you can prep cameras and we will head out for our first search for wildlife.

Day 2 - 5 (4 Days)
WILDLIFE DAYS
Early Morning Rise… We will spend all day seeking out polar bears in a private SUV. We will stop and get out to photograph bears, arctic foxes, arctic hares and snowy owls, and any other wildlife we may encounter out on the tundra. These action-packed days involve moderate hiking, as we strive for close encounters with the bears.

We may break for lunch (in the afternoon) and go into town, or depending on how good the action is - have lunch / snacks where ever we are.

Everyday is different and depending on the bear activity, we will remain flexible with our schedules.

Day 6
DEPARTURE DAY
We will return you to the airport (or train - if they are running), for your journey home.

PAYMENT AND CANCELLATION POLICY 

PAYMENT POLICY

  • A non-refundable deposit of $1000 USD is required to reserve a space on SDM adventures.

  • 50% of the expedition cost (balance) is due 180 days prior to departure.

  • 100% of the expedition cost (balance) is due 90 days prior to departure.

  • A 4% surcharge is applied to payments made via credit card.

  • A 3% paypal surcharge is applied to payments made using paypal.

  • Payments can also be made via wire transfer. Just let us know and we will send you the bank transfer info.
    Please add $40 to cover bank fees.

  • Payments can be made by mailing a U.S. Check, or U.S. Money Order Payable to:

    CANCELLATION POLICY 

    All cancellations made more than 120 days prior to departure will receive refund (less an administrative fee of $1000 USD per person). This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. However, if we manage to fill the trip after you cancel, we will apply the deposit towards any of our trips that you sign up for, during the following 12 months. If you cancel again during that period, you will lose the deposit.

  • Cancellations made (91 to 120), calendar days prior to departure, are assessed a cancellation fee of 50% of the entire trip price, (including extensions).

  • Cancellations made within 90 days of departure date will not be refunded, therefore we strongly recommend all guest purchase travel insurance.

  • All cancellations must be made in writing by mail or by email to sdm@sharkdivermag.com, - received and acknowledged by SDM Adventures.

  • We are not responsible for cancellations due to medical or other reasons.

  • No fees will be refunded if you withdraw after an expedition begins.

  • We are not responsible for any fees associated with non-refundable air travel, we highly recommend the purchase of travel insurance.
