Tigers and Great Hammerheads, Tiger Beach, Bahamas.
January 19 - 26, 2019 ( Trip # 1 )
We just finished up the first trip of the 2019 expedition season. We visited Tiger Beach, Bahamas, for tiger sharks and great hammerheads. We were plagued with bad weather, and lost a couple of days of diving this week, but we didn’t let that bother us. We dove as often as we could and enjoyed our time together when we were not. I am truly thankful that we always find amazing people to join us for these trips. It helps to have cool understanding people, especially when you get a bit stir crazy, waiting for windows of good weather to break through, so we could go diving. We killed time, editing images and videos, watching lots of movies, traded stories, and played lots of Speed, which sadly I found out I was not as fast as I had hoped I was. next time Emma and Shital. Here are a few images sharing our adventure this week. Thanks again to everyone who joined us, and for making it so much fun…

We had a surprise visitor on our vessel. A cormorant was bitten by a shark and spent a couple days hanging out with us, trying to heal up. She was weak and tired but she was super friendly and would allow us to walk right up to her. We dubbed her Shark Bait. She stayed on our vessel through the night and even came back to Florida with us, where she flew off. Hoping she is going to be alright.

Image by Shital Patel. Love this picture of Shark Bait. You can see her wounds pretty good in this shot. I love this bird!
