Polar Bear Expedition
October 26 - 31, 2019
6 Day Trip / 4 Days Wildlife Viewing
4 Guests Only
We are headed to the winter wonderland of Churchill, Canada for an amazing opportunity to get unclose and personal with polar bears. Every winter, polars bears begin gathering off Churchill Manitoba, which is considered the "polar bear capital of the world".
There are about 15,000 plus polar bears in northern Canada, and over a thousand of these bears pass by or through Churchill in the fall season. The town is located where the Churchill River flows into the Hudson Bay, and the bears gather there, waiting for the ice to freeze, so they can start hunting seals - they are hoping to get their first good meal in months.
We are arranging our trip, just before the ice freezes up for an opportunity to photograph these iconic bears in the snow. These are small groups, in a private SUV to view the bears up close and at eye level. We will be using a licensed bear guide, armed for your protection.
Day 1- Arrive in Churchill. We will pick you up from the airport and take you to your B&B Lodgings.
Day 2 - 5 - We will spend all day seeking out polar bears in a private SUV. We will stop to photograph arctic foxes and any other wildlife we may encounter out in the arctic tundra as well. (One day of the trip, we will spend 1-2 hours photographing bears playing/interacting with the Canadian huskies. These are iconic images captured of this unusual and beautiful relationship.
Please note; These are full days out in the arctic tundra, with some minor hiking, to seek out close up encounters with bears. We may break for lunch (in the afternoon) and go into town, or depending on how good the action is - have lunch / snacks where ever we are. Everyday is different and depending on the bear activity, we will remain flexible with our schedules.
Day 6 - We will return you to the airport (or train - if they are running again), for your journey home.
